A special week in September

Hi everyone! Hope your early week of September was going fantastic! Mine was bit overwhelmed. We’ve got a new flat, a busy weekend with packing and moving in stuff.

Home sweet home

a house warming gift from Orys

There are also many things going on at the work. We launched a new collection from Anna Lou of London at Ben’s Canteen.

It’s a peak time to send off 5,000 items to our trade customers in Japan. It was such a big relief for me, we’ve managed to wrap it off and get it all done in time for the delivery. Also we’re doing a shooting for Anna Lou of London brand video in office.

Whilst trying to keep up the stamina on for work, one of my close friends was leaving the country. We’ve been friends for 4 years in UK, I feel sad to let her go.

Bon Voyage Orys!

Luckily the day after was my two years anniversary day, so I’ve got something to distract my mind from feeling gloomy. A little surprise in the morning as I’ve got a biometric invitation letter from UKBA. It’s really a good sign. I went back home and the surprise continued-my boyfriend brought me roses, a gift, a bottle of champagne and he cooked for the dinner! He made my day! Like he always does.

DIY: Motivational Hanging Banner

Ok, I’ve got a confession. I’ve been neglected my blog lately as I have been spending a lot of time outside. It’s quite the battle to work on homemade project when we have had such lovely weather lately. Vacations, wedding parties, festival feasts, outdoor picnics and cinemas were such distractions! But, I am back now! Today I am sharing DIY to motivate myself and someone out there who got lots works to do. Let’s lift up your spirits with this handmade motivational hanging banner, a perfect decoration for your home or office.

Materials & Tools:

• canvas fabric

• fabric glue

• iron paper

• wooden dowel

• needle and thread

• shoe string

• scissors, ruler, and pen

Before you start this project, pick one of your favourite motivational quotes and print on the iron paper. Here’s for some inspirations:

‘Make Do Mend’ from Missamyphipps, ‘Keep Going’ from She’s Called Claire and ‘You Make My Heart Happy’ from Ethel and Co

Remember the design should be on reverse side. Cut out the design close to the edge.

Cut a piece of fabric roughly the size 28cm x 35cm. Make a flag shape by folding the bottom edge of the fabric diagonally.

If you’re happy with shape, cut and glue the bottom edge.

To neaten the banner from frayed edges, glue the right and left side of fabric.

Iron to secure the hem banner.

Place the iron paper on the centre of fabric. Add a layer of fabric and begin the ironing. Press firmly the iron against the fabric and do it couple times until the heat covers all areas (please read the instructions based on your type of iron paper).

Peel off the paper when it’s ready.

Fold the top of fabric 4 cm from above and glue 1cm off the edge. This will create a little loop which allows the wooden dowel to thread through. To make sure the banner is secure enough to hold the dowel, add some hand sewing along the top banner.

Thread the dowel through the top hem.

Tie a knot in the string on both sides.

Hang your banner now! And smile every time you see it.
