I’m a big fan of intimate weddings so when Alvin and Emma approached me to design the invitations for their private destination wedding in Bali, I was so thrilled! Located in the breathtaking Uluwatu cliff with blue horizon and ocean view as a background. The night was filled with fairy lights and lush florals, greenery and elegant tablescapes and decor set- it was truly magical!
Their wedding theme was built around neutral hues with a touch of gold, creating a soft and romantic ambiance. To match up this style, we went with a thick card in monochrome grey ink for their invitation suite. The script lettering on the couple’s name was embossed and stamped in gold foil. It was paired with the roman typeface for the entire look.
The whole suite features double sided thick main cards, hand-drawn venue on maps, rsvp cards, vellum sleeves, gold wax seals and grey envelopes. We also made another version for their second celebration in China. It was my first experience creating a layout with Chinese characters.
The heart of the suite is a custom made wreath with a monogram of their initials. We tried out several design to incorporate the circular arch where they would exchange the vows and rings. We finally decided this greenery wreath is the best way to illustrate the essence of the nuptial. We printed out the wreath as a cover in grey shade and topped it off with an emboss finishing.
We hand sketched the venue, Villa Plenilunio, to highlight it on the map. It’s such a beautiful way to commemorate this jaw-breaking venue into the suite. Also to give a sneak peek to guests so they would get excited to come for the couple’s special day.
The entire suite was wrapped neatly with a vellum sleeve tied with grey twines and sealed with a monogram gold wax seal and the soft grey tag. Then the suite was packed in a grey envelope with the matching greenery illustrations on the envelope liner. The whole experience of unwrapping the suite made everything extra special.
We designed the monogram wreath and produced wax seals from Silk and Berry stamp. They have done a wonderful job impersonating our intricate wreath on the stamp.
I loved adding a bit of modern touch on this clean and timeless suite by adding a label containing the wedding site and QR codes. This clever idea was inspired by the geeky side of the groom’s profession.
We also created wedding brand guidelines so the cohesive design could be carried throughout the details of the day. The monogram wreath and illustrated greenery was printed on these gift favors.
