Pain Perdu, the lost bread

Got some leftover bread or baguette? Better not to throw it away as you can turn it into a delicious recipe for your morning breakfast. Originally from France, Pain Perdu means ‘lost bread’, a stale bread is softened by dipping in a mixture of milk,eggs and sugar then pan-fried in butter.

This recipe is simple and easy. I bet you’ll find all ingredients in your kitchen. so, let’s start.

First, you need to cut the bread ( I am using baguette this time) into approx 2cm slices.

Prepare a large bowl, beat the eggs and whisk together with brown sugar and milk.

Place the slices in the mixture and turn to coat.

Heat the pan and melt 2 tsp butter over medium heat. Add baguette slices to pan and cook until golden and crispy on each side.

Ready to serve, eat with strawberry jam or nutella or any fresh fruit as you prefer.
