Gifts for the little ones are one of my favourite gifts to design because it always includes cute things! So when the latest Lovebirdstories project was designing a welcome baby gift box- I couldn’t wait to work on it! These welcome baby gifts were personal and special both for the couple and their guests.
I normally work with soft colour hue for kids and baby projects but this time the lovely parents requested for bold colour like navy blue pairing with grey for the colour palette. Balancing this bold look, I combined with watercolour illustrations.
They already knew the baby’s gender in advance. They also have decided to name the baby boy Toby. Toby means ‘God is Good’. To illustrate this beautiful name, I created a baby boy character praying in the night and painted with watercolour.
We had a discussion on the items curated in the box. Traditionally, the welcome baby gifts need to offer something sweet such as cookies and candies. The mummy made and baked the cookies and we helped her to package them up. Then we found the perfect white and dark blue candies that goes with all. They wanted something as a keepsake as well, so we decided to opt for grey towel tied to the customised tag. I made the matching label for the cookie jars, message card and tags. My fave part- these jar hats made from gingham cloth!
After hand picking all items and style them up in a grey hard box, I wrapped it up with navy ribbon and tags for finishing touch. I love the ideas of the recipient getting excited to discover their gifts, untie and open the box, read the thoughtful card and enjoy their presents- such an ultimate experience! Gift giving is so much fun especially when it’s personal and bring so much joy both to the giver and the recipients.
